Mine in East Sooke, East Sooke, circa 1915. Identification: The "Willow Grouse" Mine, was a mile south of the old school. Copper was mined here during the First World War. Alexander Dawson Donaldson founded this mine, along with several granite quarries on Texada Island. Some of the granite was used in the Parliament Buildings. Alexander Dawson Donaldson at right.
